Effective with the January 2024 billing statement, SPU’s electric and water rates have been adjusted to reflect inflationary increases.
What does this mean to you as a residential customer?
The following demonstrates the incremental impact to your utility billing based on kWhs or gallons of water used (as examples).
Residential Electric – Additional Billing Impact
Energy charge per kWh used increased by $0.0036.
Ex: 500 kWh/month = $1.80 increase per month
EX: 1,500 kWh/month (summer usage levels) = $5.40 increase per month
Residential Water (with a 3/4″ meter) – Additional Billing Impact
Usage charge per 1,000 gallons used increased by $0.13 up to 5,000 gallons; > than 5,000 gallons increased $0.16 per 1,000 gallons.
Ex: 3,000 gallons/month = $0.39 increase per month
Ex: 8,000 gallons/month (summer watering levels) = $1.19 increase per month
Other operational cost increases are reflected in the monthly service fee with a net increase of $6 per year for residential electric customers and $6 per year for residential water customers (3/4″ meter). Please see the water rate brochure below for all meter sizes.
What does this mean to you as a non-residential customer?
- Only Commercial Service will see a net increase in electric monthly service fees with an annual impact of $6.00. General and Industrial monthly service fees have not changed.
- Electric usage fees and demand charges have increased just under 3% in commercial, general and industrial rate classes.
- Water service fees will increase across all meter sizes, as well as water usage rates. Please see the water rate brochure below for specific changes.
New Residential EV Rate
