SPU is in elite company with a diamond-level designation from the American Public Power Association’s RP3 program. Only 121 of the more than 2,000 public utilities in America hold the Diamond designation.
What is RP3?
RP3 is a designation awarded to public utilities for exceptional performance in key areas of their operations. As a Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3), SPU has demonstrated best practices in four critical categories:
- Reliability
- Safety
- Workforce Development
- System Improvement
To earn a Diamond designation a utility must score between 98%-100% in these areas.
With this designation, SPU receives national and local recognition, and improved teamwork as employees fully understand their role in supporting our utility’s mission. Financial benefits include improved bond ratings, savings on workers compensation and insurance, and increased economic development opportunities as commercial and industrial prospects learn about SPU’s success.
