SPU has been awarded APPA’s highest service designation in the public power industry. As a Diamond designee, SPU earned an overall score of 98-100 in four categories of Reliability, Safety, Workforce Development and System Improvement.
Of the 2,000 APPA members, only 8% hold a Diamond Designation. In Minnesota there are only 9 utilities at this level.
This is a three-year designation. SPU has earned four consecutive designations – 2015, 2018, 2021 and 2024. Three of the four have been Diamond designations.
