MMUA (Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association) offers graduating high school seniors of Minnesota the opportunity to earn up to $2,000 in scholarships. This essay contest is intended to increase awareness of public power and the value of a local utility provider, and most importantly, to invest in its member communities.
Students with plans to attend a post-secondary school following graduation are invited to submit an essay to SPU. Our Commission will review all submissions and select one winner to be entered into MMUA’s state competition. Four state winners will be awarded scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000.

Entries must be received by Friday, March 25, 2022. Entries will be judged and the winning entry will be submitted to MMUA for the state competition. Winners of the scholarships will be selected and notified by mid-May 2022.
