In a recent territory transition between MVEC and SPU, customers in Jackson Township who were previously MVEC members are now customers of SPU. This transition occurred as part of the ongoing annexation of Jackson Township by the City of Shakopee. Just over 500 residential and commercial accounts have joined SPU as electric utility customers. Some customers are new to SPU while others have been existing SPU water customers on the west side of town, near Tahpah Park.
In addition, approximately 770 customers in Prior Lake who were served by SPU are now being served by MVEC.
This transition creates an improved service territory alignment as the borders of Shakopee city limits expand west and south, and Prior Lake customers are now entirely served by MVEC. The transition was completed for both utilities in the month of November.
